iOS 16.3 Update: Apple Introduces Physical Key Support for Enhanced Device Security

As predicted Apple just dropped iOS 16.3, one of the biggest changes is the option to use physical security keys for two-factor authentication (2FA) of your Apple ID. This is a game changer for anyone who takes their device security seriously.

Physical key support can provide protection against phishing scams that try to trick you into giving an intruder access through 2FA. Only the person with the physical key can access your account. Most security keys use USB, but you can also use NFC and Bluetooth keys with the iPhone or plug a USB key into Apple’s Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter.

The update also includes changes to Emergency SOS controls, bug fixes, and support for the new 2nd generation HomePod.

To get it, just head to Settings > General > Software Update on your compatible iOS device.
